You can apply for an Autism ID card through AsIAm here. This is a verified ID card which states that the cardholder is autistic and it can be useful in a variety of situations.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple tool for you to voluntarily share that you have a disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent – and that you may need a helping hand, understanding, or more time in shops, at work, on transport, or in public spaces.

Amanda McGuinness of Little Puddins has many neuro-affiriming and free resources available for autistic children and adults - these include many visual guides for everyday activities like toileting, sleep and teeth brushing. You can browse the many resources available here.

Occupational therapy

Animal Services

Shore Farm Pony Therapy

Shore Farm is a Ballina based Pony Therapy farm that caters specifically for people with additional needs who enjoy horse riding. You can find more information on their word here.

Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland are trained to the highest international standards to provide safety to children in public places.

“Every family’s story is different. Every autistic child is different. Every Autism Assistance Dog changes the world for autistic children. The primary focus of Assistance Dogs is to prevent their child companion from running into danger when they are out and about.

Attached via a belt to the child, these dogs listen and respond to the commands of the guardian/handler.”

ATU Project Wave

“This two-year project provides individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to attend college. 

Project WAVE provides a comprehensive programme, addressing students’ social, academic, and vocational needs. Students in Project WAVE will experience college life at ATU by attending classes with other students and participating in clubs and societies. 

Students can choose from four different ATU campuses to study at. The same mandatory subjects are covered at each campus plus a selection of elective subjects which can vary depending on the location.”
